Danishkadah?s story book and DVD Launching a project on Story based Knowledge Management (SbKM) in collaboration with Asia Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD)

Danishkadah organized a successful launching ceremony of story book and DVD, on October 7, 2010 at Regent Plaza Hotel, Karachi. More than 100 participants, including all major leaders of Disability movement, from all over the Pakistan attended this ceremony.Mr. Muhammad Akram, Founder President gave welcome address, he introduce Danishkadah and said that we are not ordinary Disabled People Organization (DPO) neither we are a charity organization. We are working for “inclusive, barrier-free and right based society” for all and we are an inclusive organization. We believe that to achieve the goal of “inclusive society” we have to work closely with all the segments of the society. He said we have developed story book and DVD in cooperation with Asia Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD), we are working with APCD since 2005 when I too training from there and we are

Ms. Nameera Ahmed who worked on movie shooting and developing the DVD gave her comments as how she felt working first time with persons with disability. Then Mr. Syed Iftikhar Ahmed the Deaf cartoonist who drawn the cartoons for the book gave his comments in Sign Language.
After that DVD was shown on screen, participants enjoyed watching, the fully accessible video with voice, cartoons, and Sign Language.

Then leaders in disability movement were asked to give their comments, Mr. Shafiqur Rehman (President Milestoen – Lahore), Mr. Atif Sheikh (President STEP – Islamabad), Mr. Abid Lashari (president SDF) Mr. Ghulam Nabi Nizamani (Coordinator ASHA and member advisory board Danishkadah – Sanghar) gave their comments. Mr. Nizamani also mentioned hard working of APCD and Danishkadah team during the APCD mission in Karachi when we start worked from 08am to 01am daily, this show the dedication and commitment both from APCD and Dansihkadah side.  He further said most of work done on self-help basis especially drafting contents of book.

Then two special video messages were displayed on screen one from Mr. Somchai Rungsilp (Networking and Collaboration Manager APCD) and another from Mr. Akiie Ninomiya is Executive Director – APCD.
Then Chief Guest Mr. Masaharu Sato, honorable Consul-General of Consulate General of Japan in Karachi addresses the audience. He explains the importance of law / policies / legal frame work. He gave many examples as how in Japan they are making everything accessible for persons with disabilities.  He said it is not about wealth but the brain and the way of thinking, there are many rich people who suicide they have everything, it is not about wealth. He express his pleasure to read Danishkadah story book and congratulated Danishkadah for its’ achievement and he hope this journey will be continue.

Then Danishkadah distributed certificate to the team who worked on SbKM project and letter of thanks for those who supported in organizing the event.

Finally Ms. Sidra Husain gave note of thank and thank to Mr. Rukhsana Ahsan who manage the stage during the event, and all the participants who came from all over the Pakistan, leaders of disability movement, CHEF International, organizing team / volunteers and to Chief Guest who spare time for his busy schedule and grace the book launching ceremony of Danishkadah.
At end a group photo were taken, and a book too each participated organization were given. And the ceremony ended with refreshment.
