Over 50 participants from various sectors in the Southeast Asian region took part in the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) Training Programme on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 11-14 October 2016.
Organized by AICHR Thailand, in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD) and in partnership with the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) and USAID, the Training aimed at creating a better understanding on the rights on persons with disabilities through the introduction of a regional platform in the region that will allow stakeholders to share their experiences and practices in terms of promoting and protecting the rights of persons with disabilities in the region.

AICHR Field Visit to APCD and 60 Plus+ Bakery & Cafe, Bangkok, Thailand, 13 OCtober 2016
Participants take part in exercises on Disability-Inclusive Sports at APCD
Participants of the AICHR Training Programme on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities held recently in Bangkok visited the APCD and the 60 Plus+ Bakery & Cafe to learn more about its activities and projects. Apart from presentations about APCD's history and programs, the participants were also given a tour of APCD's fully accessible facilities and given a chance to interact with the 60 Plus+ Bakery & Cafe Thai staff with disabilities.

Visitation of Thailand Development Research Institute to 60 Plus+ Bakery & Cafe, Bangkok, Thailand, 26 October 2016

Representatives from Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI) visited the APCD to learn more about the 60 Plus+ Bakery & Cafe. Apart from being toured around the bakery facilities, the visitors were also able to interact and exchange information with the staff and trainees with disabilities of the bakery.
The disability-inclusive 60 Plus+ Bakery & Cafe is part of the 60 Plus+ Project's series of activities commemorating Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's 60th birth anniversary in 2015.

APCD 2017 Calendar
APCD Releases Its 2017 Calendar
As one of the outcomes of the Third Country Training Programme (TCTP): Knowledge Creation Forum on Community-based Inclusive Development 2016 (Capacity building for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities and Their Parents), the 2017 Calendar was created by APCD in partnership with Nissan Motor (Thailand) Co. Ltd. and SLOW LABEL (Japan) to commemorate the 130th Anniversary of Thailand-Japan Diplomatic Relations in 2017.
Organized by APCD, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security of Thailand, the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), TCTP 2016 gathered artists with intellectual disabilities and their parents from Southeast Asian countries from 24 July - 6 August 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand.
