East Asia"Make the Right Real" Workshop in Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, 26 March 2014 Official group photo of Workshop participants The "Make the Right Real" Workshop was presented in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on 26 March 2014. The event was held by Mongolia's Ministry of Population Development and Social Protection and the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the National Rehabilitation Development Center of Mongolia, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD), the World Bank, the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia, the Community-Based Rehabilitation Asia-Pacific Network, the Amici di Raoul Follereau (AIFO), and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Leading the event were Mongolian Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Altankhuyag Norov and H.E. Mr. Enkhbold Zandaakhuu, Chairman of Parliament of Mongolia, who delivered a special message. A message from the President of Mongolia, H.E. Mr. Elbegdorj Tsakhia was also shared in the opening. It was attended by more than 800 participants, including government officials, persons with disabilities and the business sector from the country's rural communities. One of the highlights of the event was the unveiling of not only the Mongolian translation of the Incheon Strategy to “Make the Right Real” but also of its other accessible formats such as sign language, audio and braille. These materials were handed over by the Minister of Population Development and Social Protection, Mr. Erdene Sodnomzundui to ESCAP's Mr. Patrick Andersson, Social Integration Section Chief. The Government of Mongolia affirmed further collaboration with APCD to promote the movement on disability and development. ReferenceEast Asia"Workshop on Community-Based Inclusive Development in Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, 27-28 March 2014 Opening ceremony by organizers Held in Ulaanbaatar on 27-28 March 2014, the Workshop on Community-Based Inclusive Development in Mongolia was conducted by the Mongolia's Ministry of Population Development and Social Protection and the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the National Rehabilitation Development Center of Mongolia, ESCAP, WHO, APCD, the World Bank, the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia, the Community-Based Rehabilitation Asia-Pacific Network, and JICA. Participants, particularly those with disabilities expressed their full support for the workshop because they were able to exchange ideas and opinions with various sectors, including the government, community stakeholders, the business sector, and medical professionals about issues relating to the concept of Community-based Inclusive Development (CBID). Participants with disabilities in rural areas indicated their desire to learn more about CBID and strengthen their networks. ReferenceSoutheast AsiaExperience Sharing Workshop on Disability Inclusive Business in Mekong Countries, Yangon, Myanmar, 20-21 March 2014 Workshop participants from Myanmar The “Experience Sharing Workshop on Disability-Inclusive Business in Mekong Countries” was organized by the Myanmar Independent Living Initiative (MILI) in collaboration with the Nippon Foundation at the Park Royal Hotel, Yangon, Myanmar, 20-21 March 2014. APCD, as the partner of MILI and the Nippon Foundation, joined the Workshop as well to support a Disability-Inclusive Business movement in Myanmar. The aim of the Workshop was to share and exchange experiences about Disability-Inclusive Business among persons with disabilities and the business people locally. The Workshop was attended by over 80 participants from Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
